Greed’s long black coat was stiff at the joints and torn in too many places to count, but his old jacket, irreparably bloodstained from that fateful day when Lan Fan had lost her arm. It had only been a few months, but it felt like an eternity had passed since then, and Ling had learned enough over those months to know that even if he could wash the stains out of the cloth, he could never wash them from his mind.
It was partially that train of thought that had brought him to Colonel Mustang and Lieutenant Hawkeye’s hospital room, the morning before he was to leave for Xing. Ling knocked twice on the closed door and waited for a response, leaning against the wall. There was a lot he wanted to talk about.
//Gonna go get dinner. Not hungry, but I haven’t eaten a proper meal in about ten hours so yeah. Back in a bit. Also my dad’s cooking and his food is delicious.
✌ What is the easiest aspect of playing this muse?
//His actions or thoughts, definitely. It’s a personal headcanon of mine that growing up in Xing has given Ling the ability to be calculating as well as manipulative. We’ve seen his shrewd nature in action before, like in his first conversation with the Elrics (though threatening them was a bit on the cocky side imo), but unless you’re like super-besties, he absolutely trusts you, and he has nothing to gain from you, everything he says is going to be for his own self-interest. It’s exhausting sometimes, he hates it sometimes, but that’s just the way it has to be.
(Also, characters can be calculating and still be PERFECT CINNAMON ROLLS OF SUNSHINE. Cunning and goodness are not mutually exclusive.)
☏ What is the most challenging aspect of playing this muse?
//Dialogue. D-i-a-l-o-g-u-e. Ling’s voice is so hard to write kill me with a pitchfork
☠ Who is a muse you would want to play?
//Oh god THERE ARE SO MANY. Let’s just list some:
Nunnally vi Britannia of Code Geass (actually in the process of making a blog for her)
Ronan Lynch of The Raven Cycle (inactive, saving for rainy days)
Matthew Murdock of Daredevil (MATTTTTTT UGH THAT SHOW)
Darcy Lewis of MCU
Alphonse of FMA:B (I could never pull him off though)
Kyoko Sakura of Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Tamaki Suoh of Ouran High School Host Club
Alexander Lightwood of The Mortal Instruments (not big on the books, love the character though)
Hello! Nice to meet you, I’m Caine. Just a couple guidelines here:
♔ All questions are welcome.
♔ Muse is of age, mun is not. Please do not start a thread involving sexual themes.
♔ Mun has a severe phobia of bugs, especially arachnids. This isn't likely to happen anyway, but just to make sure, please don’t send me pictures/detailed descriptions of bugs, and please, please tag your bugs. I will unfollow. If you’re uncertain of whether something bug-involved will be okay or not, don’t hesitate to ask.
♔ Always accepting headcanons, memes, and drabble requests! Seriously, mun loves memes like nothing else.
♔ Random starters, crossovers and such are welcome. Please don’t be shy or hesitate to contact me.
♔ Unless otherwise specified, my starters and opens will generally be for mutuals only. But, you can definitely make a starter for me! We don't have to be mutuals for that.
♔ Please don’t be rude. Don’t godmod my muse, don’t force ships, don’t drop off the thread without briefly notifying me first. Thanks :-)
♔ I do ship Lingfan, but even then I ship chemistry above all others, meaning no pre-established romantic relationships, please.
♔ Please tag all contact as iinvxctus. I tag all contact; it’s just easier to keep track of.
♔ Being semi-selective and private, I will not always follow back. We don’t have to be mutuals to start a thread though, so don't be shy - we can plot anytime! Just come into my inbox and ask.
♔ Concrit is always welcome! This is a no hate blog - let's try to be nice to everyone, okay?
♔ OOC Skype is available to select mutuals; just ask.
♔ No RPing through an ask meme. Please just copy & paste the content into another post - it's so much more convenient that way.
♔ Exclusivity is fine with me, shoot me an ask and we'll work it out.
♔ If you need a specific tag for something don’t hesitate to tell me. And if I forget, just nag until I get it done.
♔ ♔ ♔ Ling Yao accepted Greed into his body as a conduit to the Philosopher's Stone at Greed's core, and fought with Greed's soul for dominance of his body. He has the ability to transmute carbon, creating an impenetrable shell from his skin - the Ultimate Shield.
♔ Ling's soul sometimes overpowers Greed, but it never lasts. Sometimes they even combine their powers in battle, switching sides effortlessly until you can't tell which face is human and which is not.
♔ Being the personification of the sin which he was named for, Greed claims to want everything in the world, but nothing can ever satisfy him. The only thing that Greed really wants is friendship, because friendship cannot be taken - it has to be earned.
Ling is a child prince, living in his homeland of Xing. At first glance his life seems idyllic: luxury, royalty, loyal bodyguards, what more could you want? But among plots, treachery, and assassination attempts, the twelfth prince is learning every day just how cruel the Emperor's court can be.
♔ Amestris:
After an arduous journey across the desert, Ling has finally arrived in Amestris, along with his bodyguards, Lan Fan and her grandfather Fuu. He smells blood - the goal is the Philosopher's Stone, the key to immortality, which will ensure that Ling is made the heir to become Emperor. However, something about this country isn't right...
♔ Homunculus:
This is my choice. Don't try to stop me! This is...this is what I want!
Ling accepts the homunculus Greed into his body in order to have access to the Philosopher's Stone. He lets Greed take control, but inside Ling waits for the opportunity to strike. This is the only way; he must honor Lan Fan's sacrifice. It's his chance, and he'll grab it with both hands - even if it means becoming a monster.
♔ To be a King:
At last, back home to Xing, with a little sister and the Stone in tow. Ling is named the heir to the throne. The weight of Fuu's death, combined with new responsibility, must make the idealistic young man grow up quickly. The Emperor's seat awaits.
